This week Vicki, our Head of Casting for Wales and the South West, stepped into the wonderful world of education when she visited Barry Island Primary School. Vicki was invited by the film education charity IntoFilm.org to talk to a class of Year 6 pupils about the role of a Casting Director and the opportunities to work in Film & TV in Wales.
With over 30 pupils in the class, Vicki covered a range of topics including her day to day activities, the challenges she faces and the wackiest briefs she’s ever received! The pupils were asked to imagine casting themselves as extras and identify what special skills they might bring to a production.
Delighted to be asked to give the talk, Vicki said afterwards ‘I’m very proud to support an organisation like IntoFilm which works to put film at the heart of children’s development. Seeing the excitement in the children’s responses serves to remind me how lucky I am to do my job. Barry Island Primary seems like an incredibly vibrant, colourful and inspiring place to be a pupil’.
